What Loquy Does That Others Don't
Loquy is a podcast application that allows for users to browse, search, play, and even transcribe audio clips from their favorite podcasts.
One problem that often arises when trying to recall something insightful you may have heard on one of your favorite podcasts is that you might have forgotten when exactly this observation had taken place. Loquy makes it possible for these points in time to be saved as a timestamp so you can easily find it and seek to that specific play time at a later date.
The transcribing of saved audio clips is what sets Loquy apart from all other available podcast applications. In addition to giving the user functionality that is offered in most other podcast applications, Loquy offers something that doesn't really exist yet. While some other applications allow for clips or snippets to be saved, Loquy takes it a step further by transcribing the clip you've saved and allowing you to save this transcription.

Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve seen other Apps that allow for audio clipping. What makes yours the best?
You're right. While there are other apps that allow users to clip audio from podcasts, Loquy makes it easier for these clips to be accessed at a later time and provides a more enjoyable user experience when doing so.
Why in the world would someone want to transcribe audio clips from a podcast?
I first came up with the idea of transcribing audio clips from a podcast when I was trying to explain a takeaway I had from one of my favorite shows to a deaf friend. Additionally, transcriptions can serve as a reminder of sorts to help you recall what you listened to.
Do you have any implementations you would like to include in this app in the future?
Of course. This app is a work in progress. With the release of widgets with iOS 14, I believe the user experience has a lot to gain by being able to access podcasts and transcriptions from them outside of the app.
How are transcriptions made from the live output audio?
Loquy uses the Apple Speech framework along with AVKit to trim an mp3 file from a saved audio clip and then uses SFSpeechRecognizer to transcribe that audio and display it as text.
